Byron, Watt-Sax, Romano compete in Junior Olympics

A great week of ski racing

Josie Byron, Hannah Watt-Sax and Nicky Romano headed for the Junior Olympics (JOs) the week of March 1. Lizzy Curvin had an unfortunate ski accident the week after the Prater Cup, cracking her clavicle in a GS training run. This was devastating to the whole team, as she was not able to compete in the JO’s. Our thoughts were with her the whole week. Lizzy came at the end of the week to cheer on her teammates, which showed awesome sportsmanship!

The JO’s consisted of 92 boys and 68 girls. The competition was tough this year. These are the best J4s in the Rocky and Central divisions, coming together to compete. The race consisted of one Super G race, two Giant Slalom races and two Slalom races.
Being at a venue different from ours always puts a little stress on the athletes. The pressure to ski well and hoping all of their hard training will prove to be enough rests on their shoulders the whole week.
We are so proud of these athletes! They all worked so hard this year. Qualifying for JOs, proved that they have the motivation and the dedication to the sport. Congratulations to all of you and a great week of ski racing!
