Pink Panthers take Gunnison tourney

Heading to Denver

Crested Butte U14 girls iced the first-place trophy, winning all four games this past weekend at Gunnison’s indoor facility. Even Crested Butte’s U12 squad suited up to garner two points with a convincing 13-0 win vs. Durango on Sunday.
The entire Crested Butte U14 team contributed with some very aggressive play in the championship game against a stingy Gunnison Blade team. Kaitlyn Seifert scored for the Panthers on a rebound with 32 seconds left to play to squeak out a 3-2 victory. Monica Olesen was brilliant in net.
Up next for the Panthers is league action this weekend in Denver vs. Colorado Selects. The U12 squad will get their first real test of the season with Izzie Dethloff getting the starting goalie nod. The U14 contest will pit the two finalists in last year’s MSGHL State Championship. The girls and parents will be going Saturday night to DU’s Magness Arena to watch Team USA vs. Team Canada. Sunday the same two teams will play two more league games. Go Panthers!
