Junior Nordic team takes Utah by storm

Ian Boucher on pace for Nationals

The Junior Nordic Team competed this past weekend in Midway, Utah on the 2002 Olympic courses at Soldier Hollow. Simply put: the team’s results were fantastic.
Ian Boucher left little doubt he would be traveling to the Junior National Championships in March. Boucher posted a fifth-place result in the freestyle sprint event, and came back and skied to a sixth-place effort in the 5K classic, which was on the actual 2002 Olympic course.
Sara Sherman and Sofia Deer skied very well and put up strong results in both events as well. Kai Sherman skied to two podium finishes, including a strong victory in the 2K classic. This was Sherman’s first victory on the year, lining him up well for the season-ending races in Steamboat.
Chris Lange skied strong and assured his place on the Junior National Team with a great showing in the men’s 15K classic event. Forrest Smith performed amazingly and posted a solid second-place effort in the 3K classic. Pharwit Durgan also skied well and had two top-five results. The Junior Nordic Team will be competing at home this weekend in the Alley Loop. Stay tuned.
