Pinnacle to offer double shot this week

Downhill and cross country on tap

Last summer the Pinnacle Bike race series introduced downhill racing to the masses in addition to its usual schedule of cross-country events.
This Thursday, July 22 the Pinnacle series offers a double shot with downhill and cross-country races offered at the same time.
“This year we’re doing three nights of gravity,” says director of Mountain Sports Drew Cesati. “This is the kick-off week for those guys.”
While the Mineral Point trail is now open, the first downhill race of the season will be held on Avery on the same course used in the Wildflower Rush.
“We’ll run Avery this week and make the call later for  next week,” says assistant director and trail crew point man Christian Robertson.
The cross-country course is still in the planning stages for the race Thursday, but Cesati has an idea.
“We’ll probably incorporate the West Side and Columbine and see where it goes from there,” says Cesati.
Registration for both races will be held on the 9380 deck from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Avery will be open for practice runs from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. with the first rider dropping at 6:30 p.m. The lifts will be running late to accommodate the athletes.
The cross-country race is scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m. from the base area.
As always, there will be classes available for riders of all ages and abilities.
