It’s Titan Time Crested Butte: Hoops season kicks off

Hoops home opener Tuesday, December 7

Sports fans of the Gunnison Valley, it’s time to rally behind your high school basketball team, the Crested Butte Titans. You, perched on the barstool at the Talk of the Town. You, sitting at home watching “South Park” reruns. Even you, paralyzed from your latest MMJ prescription refill. Get up, walk out the door and head to the brand new mighty Mt. Olympus gym at the Crested Butte Community School on Tuesday, December 7 for the Titans’ basketball home opener.
Games start at 4 p.m. with the girls’ JV, boys’ JV at 5:30, girls’ varsity at 7, finishing at 8:30 p.m. with the boys’ varsity.
This year, the Titan Booster Club, Titans’ supporters, athletic director Bob Piccaro and local businesses are putting together a halftime show not to be missed.
There will be a raffle and a shooting contest where a fan will be selected out of the crowd to attempt shooting a lay-up, a free throw and a three-pointer in 24 seconds for big prizes. And perhaps even a blimp.
There will be continued halftime entertainment and contests as the season progresses.
To find out when the Titans are playing, keep your eyes peeled for posters around town, a banner on the Pitsker Field fence and continued coverage right here in the Crested Butte News Sports Barrel.
