Family ROCK CONCERT!  The Crested Butte Youth council is presenting “Brittle Bricks,” a band hailing all the way from England, on tour here in the US and doing a benefit for the Youth Council this Friday night Dec. 10, beginning at 7:30 at Mountaineer Square ballroom.  Brittle Bricks is a rock band with a positive message who are “paying it forward” in collaboration with The Rachel’s Challenge Foundation. The concert is family oriented with the beginning of the night being mellower, and the end of the evening being more rocking! Families are encouraged, come on mom and dad, let’s show them how a rock concert is done!  Ticket are $10 each or $30 for the whole family.  Half of all ticket sales go to the CB Youth Council.  www.brittlebricks.co.uk
Farm to School News:   Local Foods Day will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at CBCS. Students and staff will enjoy a White Bean Stew made with Colorado beans and organic greens grown in Crested Butte by Paradise Food Project, along with a homemade wheat roll and Hotchkiss D’Anjou Pears. Support Farm-to-School by encouraging your child to purchase lunch on Local Foods Days.  As always, parents may join students for lunch. Please call CBCS at 641-7720 and let them know you’re planning to come by 9 a.m. that morning, or send a note with your child.  Our next Farm-to-School meeting will be January 25, 2011, 5:30, at the Chamber of Commerce.  Please come and share your ideas about how to improve the quality of food we’re feeding our children!  www.paradisefoodproject.org

Tumblebugs!  The playgrounds are buried and so it’s Tumblebugs time! Tumblebugs is a two hour play time for parents and children ages 0 – 3 years old. Come to Jerry’s Gym from 9:00 am – 11:00 am to run around and play with new friends and toys. This is a drop-in program, $5 per session, and discounted punch cards are available. Questions? Come and join us for December’s Character Camp! Developing character and values through fun, games, crafts, teamwork, relationships & stories for elementary aged children. The character traits we’re exploring are attentiveness, patience, resourcefulness, orderliness & creativity. We’ll be at the Town Hall, 8:30am – 3:30pm Monday, December 27th to Friday, December 31st. Create with Kelly at The Trailhead Children’s Discovery Museum.  Join Kelly, our resident artist, every Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. for a special guided art activity.  The Trailhead is located in the Outpost Building next to the Adventure Park at the base of the ski area in Mt. New New New Storytimes at the Old Rock Library!  Mondays AND Fridays at 10:30 for ages 3 and up, and continuing Wednesdays at 11:15 for babies and toddlers. Library storytimes will highlight the 6 early literacy skills recommended by the American Library Association, as well as incorporate titles from the Children’s Book List by the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning.
