Mountain States Rockstars ranked second in nation

Several local girls hockey players have spent the winter season traveling as part of the Mountain States Rockstars club team.

They headed west to California to compete in the MLK Girls Hockey Tournament in San Jose January 13-16. The MLK tournament is the largest girls hockey tournament on the West Coast.
The U16 girls team led the charge as they beat the San Jose Jr. Sharks in the championship game 1-0. To get to the championship game, they beat local rivals Colorado Select, Mission Ice from Arizona and the San Jose Jr. Sharks. The U16 team is currently ranked second in the nation at the AA level.
Also having a great showing from the local level was the U14 AA’s. U14’s took second in the tournament overall, with local players Hailey Pike, Kaitlyn Seifert and Madison Lambert. They made it to the championship game and lost to a Canadian team 0-1.
The U19’s took fifth place in the tournament, with local representation by Molly Pike.
Next up for the Rockstars is the State Tournament held in Ft. Collins, Colo. February 17-19.
