The Evolution Bike Park is calling all biking groms to come enjoy the home of mountain biking during the Crested Butte Triple Crown Junior and Collegiate Mountain Bike Race to be held on August 8-9.

The event will consist of three disciplines: downhill, cross-country, and a combined time category. With a focus on evolving the sport of mountain biking, this event is designed for young adult biking enthusiasts to reach their next level of riding in a healthy and friendly competition format.

“We are excited about our inaugural junior and collegiate Triple Crown mountain bike race,” explains Woody Lindenmeyr, director of the Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team. “With the Evolution Bike Park as our venue, we will utilize some of our best trails to make up the courses, testing the skills and drive of these younger competitive mountain bikers. We encourage riders throughout Colorado and New Mexico to come race. Spectators will have plenty to watch too, as I anticipate great action from this event as the competitors begin to write the next chapter for mountain biking progression.”

With ten categories for junior and collegiate ages, all riders can vie for a chance to win in their respective age class.
Saturday will be the practice day for all riders and Sunday is race day, with the action kicking off at 9 a.m. with the cross-country race and the downhill racing starting at 1 p.m. The downhill track will be Avery, and the 12 and under age class will ride a section of Hotdogger.

Registration is $25 online, and day-of-race registration is $30 and will be available from 7 to 9 a.m. in the Treasury Building. Race day lift tickets are included in the registration and a discounted practice ticket can be purchased for $15 at the Crested Butte Rental Center for Saturday practice.
