Sinkhole on Red Lady Way

Town manager Joe Fitzpatrick reported that there was a “major” sinkhole on Red Lady Way. “We are working with Mt. Crested Butte Water & Sanitation District to solve the cause. Right now we believe it’s probably an underground spring… We will figure out a repair as soon as we’re sure what we are dealing with,” he said.

The town will likely need to wait for drier weather to make a repair.

Banner day for Mountain Express

Fitzpatrick reported that Mountain Express has had a busy season. On February 27, 2016 the shuttle service carried 7,184 passengers.

Auditing sales tax

At the recommendation of town finance director Karl Trujillo, council approved an agreement with Revenue Recovery Group, Inc. The company will help the town with audits on things like sales tax, construction fees, and admissions tax audits.

“This is not because we feel we have a problem. The [town’s] auditor feels we needed more closure of the sales tax loop,” Trujillo said.
