Two unrelated single-vehicle car accidents occurred last Sunday afternoon within 15 minutes of each other, closing Highway 135 near mile-marker 9 for about 40 minutes.

The first incident occurred at 3:55 p.m., when a 39-year-old Gunnison woman in a 2008 Subaru Outback went off the road after failing to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road, and collided head-on with a concrete wall. State Patrol had no information on the extent of her injuries, but she was transported from the scene and issued a ticket for driving a vehicle improperly on a highway.

The second accident occurred at 4:10 p.m., when a 29-year-old female hit a guardrail in the same area. She was uninjured, but her vehicle needed to be towed.

The State Patrol cleared the scene by 4:35 p.m.
