2019 Crested Butte Bike Week Schedule

Thursday

CBMBA Women’s Group Ride

Time: 5 p.m.

Location: Big Al’s Bicycle Heaven, followed by libations at the Brick Oven

Price: Donations to your local trails non-profit, CBMBA, are appreciated.

All ability levels are welcome to join in. Riders should come prepared with a working bike, helmet, tools, tubes, water and food.

 

CB Devo High School Team Fundraiser

Time: 5:30 p.m.

Location: Public House

Price: $10 (12 and under); $15 (everyone else)

Featuring Filmed By Bike, we will also be showing a bonus film called RJ Ripper before rolling into a prize drawing with all proceeds benefitting our high school race program. This film has a run time of 55 minutes and will start at approximately 6:30 p.m. so please come early to buy your drawing tickets, grab a drink (we’ll provide the appetizers) and get your CB Devo merchandise for the season.

Crested Butte Challenge

Time: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday & Saturday

Location: trails TBA

Price: $5 (12 and under); $10 (adults)

Two days to prove you’ve got the skills to conquer unique trails in Colorado’s mountain biking capital. Compete on both days or just one; either way you’re entered to win some great prizes from our sponsors! Riders must download the CGB Trails app and Strava to their phones, link the two and use Strava to document their rides.

 

Chainless Downhill Championships

Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.: check-in & bike drop-off 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.: participant shuttles 4:20 p.m.: race start
top of Kebler Pass

Location: Four-Way Stop parking lot: check-in, bike drop-off & participant shuttles

Price: $30 (online only); $35 day-of (cash only)

Bike Week’s signature event with costumes, shenanigans and, most important, no chains! Coast your way down Kebler Pass to the party in downtown Crested Butte. Please remember: Helmets are required and must be worn (don’t tie them to your bike, people, c’mon!).

 

Obstacles Clinic with Backcountry Bike Academy

Time: 9 to 11 a.m.

Location: Four-Way Stop parking lot

Price: $1 to $1,000,000 (all donations go to CBMBA)

What could be better than getting personalized feedback and raising money for CBMBA? Join BetterRide certified coach Andy Shabo and our team of instructors for a morning of dialing in your technique as you attack gigantic (or tiny, if that’s your preference) obstacles. From never-ever to pro-race: All ages and abilities welcome!

 

Irwin Guides Baxter Gulch/Green Lake Loop Shuttled Ride

Time: 10 a.m.

CB Devo Strider Cup & Slow Race

Time: 3 p.m.

Location: 1st and Elk Avenue

Price: Free

First, race your strider down Elk Avenue, then see how slow you can go! Test your inner turtle and be the last to cross the line! Kids of all ages are encouraged to inch their way to the finish line and take home the gold! Lots of prizes, too!

 

The Rider and the Wolf Film Screening and Panel Discussion

Time: 6 p.m.

Location: Crested Butte Library

A feature documentary about the life and mysterious disappearance of Mountain Bike Hall of Fame cyclist Mike Rust. He helped form the sport of mountain biking in the USA with the stoke and technical innovations he put into action in the mountain towns of Crested Butte and Salida. He went missing without a trace in 2009 in a remote part of Colorado. The mystery remains. Join the filmmaker, producer and other key individuals from the film in a panel discussion following the film.

Location: Woods Walk/Lower Loop Trail System

Price: $20 (groups up to 4); $10 (individuals over 12)

Explore Crested Butte trails with your family or just dip your feet into our extensive trail system with this all-new scavenger hunt; handpicked trails (TBA) will take you to the most beautiful locations while you search for clues and prizes!

Riders under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

CO Backcountry Flag-Bear-Doctor Shuttled Ride

Time: 9 a.m.

Location: meet at the Town Park Vendor Village

Crested Butte Devo Skills Clinic

Time: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Location: Tommy V Field, 910 9th Street

Price: $20

These will be held at CBCS parking lot, and we’ll also have clinics for you parents with BICP certified instructors Phil and Cooper Ott, who are absolutely AMAZING! No matter how old you are, there’s always something.

 

Adaptive Sports Center’s Bridges of the Butte

Time: 12 p.m. Saturday to 12 p.m. Sunday

Location: Town Park Vendor Village

Price: prices vary

We come together for 24 hours with one purpose: to raise money to empower people with disabilities and their families to experience the life-changing facts of our program. Bridges of the Butte is a fun and unique event and is a Crested Butte-style bike-a-thon. The 300 riders raise funds for the ASC by completing laps through Crested Butte to earn pledges. All ages are encouraged to participate and riders can participate as individuals or as a team.

CB Devo BBQ Lunch

Time: 12 to 2 p.m.

Location: CB Bike Park (behind CBCS)

Price: $8

Includes organic shredded beef sandwich, Jackson’s Honest Chips, fruit, cookie and a drink. This will be a very healthy lunch to fuel these kids all day long!

 

Crazy Classic Bike Show

Time: 12 to 3 p.m.

Location: Town Park Vendor Village

Price: Free (beer will be for sale for those 21+)

PBJ Expo

Time: 2 to 4 p.m.

Pumps, bump and jumps clinic at the bike park! Raffle will benefit the Crested Butte Development Team. Robbie Pfunder’s Trials Show (details here) will begin at approximately 2:15 p.m. with the pump track racing following at 3 p.m. There will be jump and trail maneuvers clinics with both Robbie and CB Devo coach Phil Ott after the pump track racing.

 

Jr. Wildflower Classic Pizza, Ice Cream & Racer Meeting

Time: 5 p.m.

Location: Tommy V Field, 910 9th Street

Price: included in registration; $10 suggested donation for all others

Pizza and ice cream party followed by the pre-race meeting for the Crested Butte Junior Wildflower Classic at Totem Pole Park (located on Maroon Avenue across from the fire station) with Brick Oven pizza, Oskar Blues B. Stiff soda pop and Third Bowl Ice Cream—racers and fans welcome!

Another chance to see Robbie Pfunder’s Trials Show will begin at 5:30 p.m.

4th Annual Crested Butte Junior Wildflower Classic

Awards at 12 p.m.

Got a kid between the ages of 6 and 17 years old who wants to try out racing for the first time or keep the racing fire going? Then this is the event for them.
