Chances are slim for Mt. Crested Butte council election this April

Five current council members turn in nomination petitions

It’s looking like Mt. Crested Butte might not be holding a Town Council election this April after all. The last time town had an election for Town Council was 2008.

As of the deadline on Monday, January 27, the only people to return nomination petitions for council were current council members Michael Bacani, Dwayne Lehnertz, Nicholas Kempin, Roman Kolodziej and mayor Janet Farmer. Council members Lauren Koelliker and Steve Morris are not up for re-election.

According to town clerk Tiffany O’Connell, the town will not hold an election unless there is a write-in candidate who files an affidavit by Monday, February 3 at 5 p.m.
