A criterium-style Nordic ski race; pledge sheets due Friday

Time to line up and hit the Nordic trails for the Third Annual Magic Meadows 7 on Saturday, January 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Magic Meadows Yurt. Not only do you get a chance to ski, you also raise money for the Crested Butte and Gunnison junior Nordic ski teams.
Early online registration is $25 per person—or free with $50 in pledges (per person regardless of whether you are competing as an individual or on a team). Online registration closes at midnight on Friday, January 9. Late day-of registration is $30 at the Yurt.
Prizes will go out to most individual laps, most team laps (cap four members)
 and most pledges raised.
Participants who are collecting pledges should contact the race organizers at cbskiteam@gmail.com to receive a comp entry code. Pledge sheets must be turned in to the event organizers by this Friday, January 9.
Take part in the race on your own or on a team, in spandex or in costume, race the clock or just come hang out and support the team in this Criterium-style ski. The event offers a couple options. There will be the standard four-kilometer loop and a one-kilometer loop for the youngsters.

The event is freestyle so skate or classic ski, and there are two classes, competitive and recreational. The competitive category is for teams that are racing and going for most laps. Only one person from each competitive team may be out on course at one time. The recreational category is for teams that just want to come out, have fun, and ski together. Multiple people from each team may be out on course at one time in the recreational category.
As with all fundraisers, there will be a raffle for a pair of brand new Icelandic skis—Vanguards, “the ultimate backcountry tool” handmade in Colorado, U.S.A. They are really nice looking skis and retail for $800. They can be traded in for a smaller or bigger size. Everybody who enters the event will get a raffle ticket. For every $25 worth of pledges raised, you will get another raffle ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the event for $25. The raffle will take place after the event at 3 p.m.
Also, as with all fundraisers, there will be coffee, food and beer. First Ascent will provide the coffee, Mikey’s will provide the chili, Mountain Oven brings the bread, Boulder Brands and Clif provide the energy food and Elevation Beer Company will provide beer.
Last but certainly not least, the Magic Meadows 7 is also part of the Mountain Store Citizen’s Race Series and worth bonus points toward your final overall points tally.
