Disc golf tournament coming to Big Mine course this Sunday

Battle at Big Mine II

Local disc golf organizer Chris Brown is excited to present the Battle at Big Mine II disc golf tournament at the Big Mine course Sunday, June 8.

Last year’s Battle at Big Mine was a huge success, and Brown has 107 sponsors on tap for this year’s event to make sure it is even better.
“It was our biggest event last year,” says Brown. “We had over 60 players and I’m hoping we get close to 80 this year.”
Due to the expected huge turnout, Brown is currently taking as many pre-registrations as possible and setting up tee times.
“Foursomes can call me right now and I can give them a tee time, or just show up the morning of the event and I’ll fit them in somewhere,” says Brown.
Pre-registration is $10 per person. It will cost $20 the day of the event and will be held starting at 9:30 a.m. at the start of the course next to the Nordic Center in Crested Butte.
While Brown recognizes that parts of the course may still have snow, recent warm temperatures should clear most of it out of the way by Sunday. No matter what, the tournament is on.
“It’s happening regardless—we’ll make do,” says Brown.
The Battle at Big Mine II is the second of four tournaments Brown organized for the 2008 season. The third event, the Toss in the Clouds, is scheduled for Sunday, July 20 at the course on Crested Butte Mountain.
For more information or to set up a tee time for the tournament June 8, call Chris Brown at 209-6616.
The post-tournament party will be held at the Eldo.
