Recreation Special Use Permits Title of News Release
The US Forest Service is seeking public input on Special Use proposals that have been received by the Gunnison Ranger District.
Outfitter and Guide Services
ACTION ADVENTURES SNOWMOBILE TOURS is requesting the issuance of a ten-year priority permit for guided snowmobile tours in the Kebler Pass area near Crested Butte on existing groomed trails.
ADAPTIVE SPORTS CENTER is requesting a ten-year priority permit for summer hiking, peak climbing in the Crested Butte area and canoeing on Lake Irwin, Emerald Lake, and Mirror Lake. 
BURT RENTALS SNOWMOBILE TOURS is requesting the issuance of a ten-year priority permit for guided snowmobile tours in the Kebler Pass area near Crested Butte on existing groomed trails.
COLORADO BACKCOUNTRY is requesting the issuance of a ten-year priority permit for providing guided backpacking, hiking and mountain biking in the Crested Butte area.
COSMIC CRUISERS is requesting the issuance of a ten-year priority permit for outfitted and guided dog sled day rides in the Spring Creek and Pitkin areas.
CRESTED BUTTE MOUNTAIN GUIDES is requesting the issuance of a ten-year priority permit for guided peak climbing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, mountaineering, x-country, back country skiing and avalanche training on the Gunnison Ranger District.
HIGH MOUNTAIN DRIFTERS is requesting a ten-year priority permit for guided fishing in the Gunnison Basin area.
LAZY F-BAR OUTFITTERS is requesting a ten-year priority permit for guided summer and fall horseback day rides, pack, and hunting trips in the East River/Brush Creek/Farris Creek/Deadman/Mysterious Lake areas and the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Area.
LUCKY CAT DOG FARM is requesting the issuance of a ten-year priority permit for outfitted and guided dog sled day rides in Taylor Park, Pitkin, and Gold Basin areas.
Recreation Events
CRESTED BUTTE NORDIC CENTER is requesting a special use permit to conduct a Thanksgiving Nordic training camp for high school aged students and a Super Tour in the Kebler Pass and Crested Butte areas. An estimated 100 individuals are expected to participate in each event.
ELK MOUNTAIN GRAND TRAVERSE SKI RACE is requesting a special use permit to conduct their yearly cross-country ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen in the Brush Creek, Star Pass, Taylor Pass, Richmond Hill, Aspen Ski Area areas during March, 2009. They expect approximately 250 participants.
In order to make an informed decision on the issuance of these permits, the Gunnison Ranger District is accepting comments on these proposals. Comments must be received within 30 calendar days of the publication of this legal notice in the Gunnison Country Times.
