Erin Kelly ends her XC season with strong run in Wisconsin

They’ll run this winter too…

A cadre of Crested Butte runners traveled to the upper midwest to hone their skills and finish their season this past weekend. Erin Kelly’s ultimate goal was to finish in the top 60 and came up close with a 75th place finish out of the 290 runners in the championship division at the Mid-West Regional XC Championships Saturday, November 29.

The Mid West Regionals are made up of 13 states, with the best runners in those states coming to Kenosha, Wisconsin to compete.
Kelly ran a 19:37 on the slow, muddy and snow-packed course this year and the leaders ran 30 seconds slower than last year. Kelly finished on a strong note to what has been a great season for her in taking second at the state championships this year as just a sophomore.
Monica (Jersey) Kinsella finished 149th out of the 290 runners from around the country. Kinsella is adjusting nicely to the elevations, and should have a great track campaign—she just needs to start believing in herself more.
Nicholas Harper-Johnston was fighting illness to take 190th out of the 240 racers in the junior and senior race. The racing schedule will resume on January 17 at the Air Force Academy. Jack Linehan and Kelli Hargrove will start their final high school track season at that time.
