Hockey player in physical therapy
The Gunnison High School hockey player injured in a game in Durango on February 14 remains at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.
Fifteen-year-old Dustin McGuinness of the Gunnison Blades “B” team has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit and into the Neuro Trauma Unit and has started physical therapy. He is no longer on the ventilator but he is not yet in a total state of consciousness.
According to the website dmcguinness.livejournal.com, Dustin continues to make progress and his family is appreciative of all the support coming from the valley.
Dustin was flown from Durango to Grand Junction for surgery after he took a check during a game, skated to the bench and passed out. Coaches at the game said the check did not look particularly hard.
An account has been set up at the Gunnison Bank and Trust to help with Dustin’s situation.
