Reward offered for vandalism incident

Met Rec equipment damaged

For the third time in two years, the Gunnison Met Rec District Sunlight Ridge translator site has been vandalized.

Late last month someone broke in to the translator building and caused about $1,000 worth of damage. The district is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible party.
Damage was reported to the satellite downlink system recently installed by the Met Rec District to enhance over-the-air television signals. Also housed in the same building is the KBUT translator equipment, but no damage was done to the radio station’s equipment.
Mt. Crested Butte police are investigating the incident. If you have any information, and you want the reward, contact the Police Department at 349-6516.
