Mountain cross and cross-country action
The Pinnacle Race Series returns to action this week Thursday, August 13 with a double shot of mountain bike action, including the introduction of Mountain Cross to the Pinnacle series.
The Mountain Cross is shoulder-to-shoulder high-speed action as three to four riders are sent down a course rife with jumps and banked turns at the same time, with the first to the finish line taking the win.
Two weeks ago an easier option was available through the bottom part of the mountain cross course during the Super D. This week, no such option will be available.
“We’re going to tighten up the tape so you have to go over the rolls this time,” says director of Mountain Sports Drew Cesati.
Racers will ride the course solo first to set their time and then, based upon their time, will be seeded, at which point brackets will be determined. The races will start at 7 p.m.
The cross-country race starts at 5:45 p.m. The course will take riders up the Westside trail, across Horseshoe to Meander, up Prospector and then finishing down the Columbine trail.
The racecourse can be viewed in its entirety on crankcollective.com.
Registration for both events will be held at the Butte 66 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The post-race party will be at the Butte 66 as well.
