Faith Vickers takes KBUT Women’s Arm Wrasslin’ title

Third tournament scheduled for the Fourth of July

Faith “Lonesome Dove” Vickers, barrel racer and snowmobile racer, can now add 2010 KBUT Women’s Arm Wrasslin’ Champion to her list of accomplishments. Vickers took the title Saturday night, February 27 upstairs at the Talk of the Town before a packed house.

KBUT had the foresight to set up a VIP section with ringside seats as well that were sold out, mostly to a crew from Dallas, Texas and Washington D.C.
“We flew in from Dallas and D.C. just for this event,” stated one VIP section ticket holder.
It was an incredible evening. Twenty-two women stepped up to the stage for a shot at the title including last year’s champion Anne “Anaconda” Morrison and last year’s runner up Lauren “Hebrew Hammer” Alkire.
But there was no one who was going to stand in the way of the Lonesome Dove enroute to her title.
Though one tried. Carrie Jo “Sledgehammer” Hicks refused to roll over easy.
Hicks had a solid run to the semis taking down pre-tournament favorites, Jenn “50 Cal.” Abrams and “Anaconda” to advance.
After Lonesome Dove decimated her opponents in her first two contests, she was destined for another quick pin but Hicks had something else in mind and she had the support of the Dallas crew.
“She’s good,” commented one Dallas visitor about Hicks.
“Yeah she’s good,” his friend agreed. “She’s our masseuse.”
Hicks gave it her best shot too. While Lonesome Dove gained an immediate advantage, Hicks battled back to pull even before Lonesome Dove turned inside herself and looked through Hicks to find another level of brute strength.
As Dove pressed Hicks closer to the pad, Hicks continued to fight, refusing to give in. It was then that I’m pretty sure I saw Lonesome Dove’s eyes cross as she turned her shoulder ever so slightly for her final move, finally pinning Hicks.
Meanwhile, Carol “Gramma’s Got Gunz” Quinn, mother of two-time Birkebeiner winner Rebecca Dussault, charged through her side of the bracket taking down Priscilla “Mia Wallace” Banks and Nathalie “Kansas Twister” Simon on her way to meeting JJ “LL Cool JJ” Eagleston in the semifinals.
While LL Cool JJ had a great run to the semifinals, she hit a brick wall against Quinn as “Gramma” pinned her with relative ease to advance to the finals and meet Lonesome Dove.
Talk circulated through the crowd that perhaps Lonesome Dove was fatigued from her battle with Hicks and that an upset may be in the making.
That talk soon fell into a murmur as the two stepped to the stage to face each other across the table. Rather, as Quinn stepped to the stage only to have to look up at Lonesome Dove, way up.
Quinn stands at approximately five foot, two inches while Lonesome Dove appeared to be closer to six foot, two inches tall.
And while Quinn gave it a go, the finals lasted all of about 20 seconds as Lonesome Dove finished her off with a curl of the wrist to take the 2010 KBUT Women’s Arm Wrasslin’ title.
