Mountain Sports Team Alpine youth tears it up in Breck

J5 racers take on talent from the region

Five J5 (ages 9-10) alpine ski racers from the Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team (CBMST) headed to the Breck Kombi event in Breckenridge last weekend.
The Breck Kombi race is a classic end-of-the-season event that brings in some of the top young guns from around the Rocky Mountain region.
The race is unique in that it sends athletes down a course that combines slalom with giant slalom.
A week prior to the event several CBMST were floating around in the top 30 finishes but in Breckenridge they threw down with Maddie Redden leading the charge.
Maddie posted her first top-three finish of the season as well as a fifth-, 16th- and ninth-place finish over the four-race weekend.
Summit Wallace laid down two fourth-place finishes and a fifth-place result and Lily Redden, Max Hall and Everasit Davis all had solid runs.
“Those were some really good results from the kids at that race,” says Drew Cesati, director of the Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team and head alpine coach. “We’re really excited with their finishes.”
