Crested Butte medical marijuana dispensaries on verge of opening

Type the 300 block of Belleview into the GPS to find a dispensary

By the end of this week the first of several marijuana dispensaries should be open for business in Crested Butte. Five applications have been approved and permits will be issued when final inspections and administrative paperwork is complete.

The 300 block of Belleview Avenue will be ground zero for Crested Butte’s medical marijuana dispensaries. Town manager Susan Parker approved five applications last week; four of the five are located within spitting distance of each other at 309, 310, 315 and 329 Belleview. The fifth dispensary does not yet have a site.
Each dispensary owner must fulfill certain conditions in the medical marijuana ordinance before actual permits will be issued. Essentially, they must have their security systems installed and the premises re-inspected by the town. They must also show proof of state and local permits such as sales tax licenses.
“No one has completed all the requirements but we will do the re-inspections as soon as they are ready,” Parker said Monday. “Once those inspections are completed to confirm the completion of the conditions, a town permit will be issued if everything is satisfactory.”
Applicants were sent a letter notifying them about what was left to be finished before a permit would be approved. Inspections were taking place this week.
The potential names for the dispensaries include Boom Town, the Crested Butte Wellness Center, Acme Dispensary, Grass Roots Organic Wellness and the Acceptus Group. The groups are from Crested Butte, Salida, Durango, Boulder, and Texas.
