CBMR, Forest Service to meet over Snodgrass

September meeting planned

Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) and U.S. Forest Service officials will meet face-to-face to discuss the Snodgrass ski area expansion situation next month. A meeting is preliminarily set for Monday, September 27 between forest supervisor Charlie Richmond and CBMR president Tim Mueller.

The meeting is meant to discuss the current situation surrounding skiing on Snodgrass. Last fall, Richmond rejected CBMR’s plan to expand ski lifts onto Snodgrass. CBMR appealed the decision all the way to the chief of the U.S. Forest Service, Tom Tidwell, but the Richmond decision was upheld.
However, under the appeals process, Richmond was instructed to either explain to the ski resort how skiing could be accommodated on Snodgrass or take Snodgrass out of the Forest Plan as a designated ski hill.
Richmond initiated the contact and touched based with Mueller and the two agreed to a September meeting. No agenda is set and neither wanted to talk about the possible discussion points at this time.
