Team Alpine Orthopaedics rallies at Colorado State Championships

Bring home six medals

The Mountain States Cup series heated up last week with the Colorado State Championships at Keystone August 6-8 and Team Alpine Orthopaedics was there fanning the flames to post numerous top-five finishes and bring home five medals.
Pro rider Travis Scheefer continues to knock on the door of a win this summer, taking fifth place in the cross-country race in Keystone.
“He’s going to take one of these things,” says team rider and directeur sportif Dave Ochs.
Scheefer added in a seventh-place finish among pro men in the short track race that weekend.
Team AO athlete Laura Anderson continues her climb into the upper echelons of the pro women’s class, taking seventh place in the cross-country race at Keystone.
Ochs had a strong start in his Cat I men ages 30-39 cross-country race, hanging on in the end to take third place and bring home the bronze.
“I had a pretty good race but kind of faded,” says Ochs. “I’ve had three third places this year—it’s getting annoying.”
The junior team and coach Tim Curry led the charge for the team, with Arly Landry winning the women’s CAT II class ages 19-29 for the state title in her class and a gold medal to boot.
Brother Pete Landry posted a double shot of podium finishes, taking second place in the cross-country and short track events for two silver medals in the Junior Men 14 and under.
TJ Curry missed the podium in his cross-country race but rebounded to take second place in the short track event.
Coach Curry pulled in some hardware as well, taking the silver medal in the short track race in the CAT I ages 19-29 class.
All told, the junior team brought in five medals—throw in Ochs’ bronze and that’s a total of six medals for Team Alpine Orthopaedics.
“For the team as a whole, things are going great,” says Ochs. “Six medals, love it!”
The team will have two riders in the Leadville 100 this weekend and then set their sights on the next Mountain States Cup series race in Telluride, August 20-22.
