Playoff implications on the line
I am calling all locals to come to mighty Mt. Olympus on Friday, February 18 and catch the last regular season home games for both the boys and girls Titans basketball teams.
For the entire season, the visiting fans have outnumbered local support and its time to come out and show some hometown pride.
Not only do you get to watch classic Colorado 2A hoops, but you also get to witness the pageantry of two halftime shows, with prizes including coupons to the Teocalli Tamale and more.
Furthermore, the cash prize for the shooting contest is up to $450 cold hard cash! We’ve had a gaggle of locals pulled from the crowd at every home game for a shot at the cash prize and they’ve come close to winning but, as we all know, close only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades.
We may even expand the halftime show this Friday to include a free-throw shooting contest.
Pageantry aside, it’s time to show some Titan support. If the boys win Friday night they set themselves up for a good shot at reaching the 2A state tournament—and fan support could make the difference.
“The boys and girls have worked hard all season and it would be great to get some hometown support,” says Titan boys coach Robin Loyed.
Games start at 4 p.m. with the boys JV. The Lady Titans varsity is at 5:30 p.m. and the Titans boys varsity tip-off is at 7 p.m.
