BOZAR in the spotlight
The Crested Butte Town Council sent a proposed ordinance concerning Elk Avenue directional signs to the Board of Zoning and Architectural Review (BOZAR). After BOZAR comments on the proposal, the council will hold a public hearing on the proposed regulations governing new off-site signage at the May 7 meeting.

BOZAR members will consider the revised Sixth Street Station development on May 1 and 2. The large development project is coming back to the board after initially being rejected two years ago. The council will also hear an appeal of a BOZAR decision regarding the construction of a deck on Sopris Avenue. That appeal hearing will take place April 16.

Art rejection
Town Manager Susan Parker told the council that the area did not receive a state Creative District designation that was advocated by the local Arts Alliance. “But don’t worry, we’ll try again,” she promised.

Affordable housing fee refund
In an effort to refund $20,000 in affordable housing fees to Bobby Maxwell, an Elk Avenue property owner who is expanding his building and came under the revised affordable housing fees, the council passed an ordinance exempting the first 500 square feet of any commercial development from the fees. Maxwell will be refunded the money shortly.
