Resort a happening place this summer

Free Friday lift rides a boon

If you’ve been up to Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) for the Live from Mt. Crested Butte Music Series on Wednesdays or the Free Friday Twilight Lift Rides, then you already know lift lines are sometimes backed up to the Treasury Center Building.

According to Erica Reiter, CBMR’s public relations and communications manager, Friday evening lift rides are up 1,266 percent compared to last year. That includes pass holders, folks who might have purchased a ticket earlier in the day (free rides start at 4:30 p.m.), and riders and hikers taking advantage of the free lift ticket.
Ladies Mountain Bike Clinics, led by local bike gurus, have been filling up most weeks, and the Pinnacle Race Series has also added a happening vibe to Wednesday nights’ Live! from Mt. Crested Butte Music Series. “It’s been great to see moms and kids enjoying the concert while dads race, and then they all get together for a picnic dinner and the rest of the concert,” Reiter said.
Lodging room nights in CBMR properties for June and July were flat to last year, but Reiter says that last year room nights were ahead 23 percent. “We are happy to be maintaining this pace, as I believe we far outpaced other mountain towns in growth last year.”
The Adventure Park is also open late on Fridays, until 7 p.m., and 9380 is offering a $5 happy hour on Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. For Ladies Bike Clinic registration and information, call 349-2211.
