CBMR reports slight increase in skier visits for the 2012-2013 winter season

Season passes expected to go on sale in May

In a season of below average snowfall and travel challenges that included a decrease in airline capacity at the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) is reporting a 1 percent increase in skier visits and a 7 percent increase in paid skier visits for the 2012-2013 ski season.

“Given the challenging climate, we are pleased to see some growth and we are proud of what our team has been able to accomplish,” said CBMR communications manager Erica Reiter.
Season pass sales for the 2013-2014 winter season are expected to launch in May, and an announcement of pricing and products will be out as soon as details are finalized, said Reiter.
CBMR is not only about winter, however, and the resort has a host of summer projects in the queue. These include a glading project in the East River area, the construction of two or three new bike trails in the Evolution Bike Park, renovations to finish the Paradise Warming House, the construction of a wedding garden at the top of the Painter Boy lift and several improvements at the base area.
“We are excited to get these projects under way as soon as possible,” said Reiter. “But in the meantime, we’re continuing to pray for snow and rain to help our water table throughout the
valley.”
