Council has intensive 48 hours planned as town manager candidates reach home stretch

Final Four playoff April 10-11

The final four town manager candidates will be put through the rigors of an intense couple of days next week. There will be dinners, lunches, interviews, tours and interaction with the public.

The Crested Butte Town Council discussed the upcoming process at the Monday evening council meeting and wanted to ensure that they and the public had some time to get to know the remaining four candidates. In concept, the four will start 48 hours of fun with coffee on Wednesday, April 10, go through an intensive job interview with the Town Council, take a tour of the town facilities, meet with town staff and then show off their social skills during a meet-and-greet with the public Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
The candidates include Parks and Recreation director Jake Jones, Rural Transportation Authority executive director Scott Truex, the city manager of Polson, Montana, Todd Crossett, and Charles Wright of Kroenke Sports Enterprises.
Two candidates will go through the council grilling on Wednesday, while the other two will go under the spotlight Thursday.
Wednesday’s public event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council chambers at Town Hall. Thursday’s event will take place about the same time but at a yet-to-be determined location. The council wants immediate and focused feedback from citizens; informational forms will be available for instant impressions. Council will use the forms to evaluate the final four.
“We want efficient feedback from the public, efficient feedback from the staff and essentially efficient feedback from the council,” said Mayor Aaron Huckstep.
The council members will then get together Friday, April 12 to hash out the person they want as the next town manager of Crested Butte. An offer is expected to be made by mid-April.
