CBMR preps trails for summer

Reports increase in early bookings

Snow may still occassionally be in the forecast, but the time for skiing has passed at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) as work crews take to the hill readying trails for summer mountain biking season, which will begin June 15.

Recently the Crested Butte Mountain Biking Association has been on the mountain working to maintain and update established trails, said CBMR communications manager Erica Reiter.
“Trail crews are continuing to clean up the mountain and are also beginning construction on several uphill and downhill beginner trails to be located on Warming House Hill,” added Reiter. “We’ll also be beginning work soon on connecting Columbine with an uphill route so that downhill and uphill traffic will be separate.”
During construction and maintenance, the trail crews have asked that riders respect the closure of all trails.
“We will announce when the cross-country trails open,” said Reiter. “In the meantime, however, many of the trails are still wet and we hope people will respect the closures and the trail crew’s work to preserve and maintain the trail system.”
Summer adult season passes are on sale for $209 until June 7, and include unlimited chair lift rides and access to the Adventure Park. After June 7, the price will increase to $249. Day tickets will be $32 for an adult lift-only pass, and $39 for a pass that includes the Adventure Park. Tickets for riders age seven to 17 will be $26 for lifts-only and $31 with the Adventure Park. Chair lift rides for kids six and under will be free, but a day pass for the adventure park will be $23.
CBMR will continue to offer Twilight Rides on Wednesdays and Fridays evenings from 4:30 to 7 p.m. with Wednesdays costing $15, and Fridays free.
“We’re on track for a solid summer, and everything is looking very good,” said Reiter.
According to the resort, preseason booking for this summer is up from last year. Early booking ended on Memorial Day, and CBMR is currently reporting a 13 percent increase in room nights for May through October.
