Uphill will cost you, but have a waffle
The last day to purchase a Crested Butte Mountain Resort adult season pass for $599 is this Friday, September 27. Starting Saturday, the price will climb to $749.
These prices are for the adult Peak pass only, and do not include Adventure Park, uphill or summer access. Upgrading to include these amenities requires the purchase of a Peak Plus pass for an additional $200.
An uphill season pass can also be purchased separately for $100, or for $10 day. Business passes will not be sold this year, a decision that is related to an overall restructuring of pass prices and options.
“The Peak Pass and the Peak Pass Plus are the best options for community members wanting unlimited access to the mountain,” said Erica Mueller, CBMR spokesperson. “When we set the $599 price back in April, it was our hope to capture some more Gunnison County skiers or lapsed skiers. The purpose of the Peak Pass is to drive volume and that volume needs to come regionally. That was the initial reason for the decrease in price and how we will be able to make this program work.”
Beyond selling passes, CBMR is currently working to prepare the mountain for opening day, which this year will fall on November 27. Skiing that day, as in years past, will be free.
“We’re also getting ready to make a ton of snow,” said Erica Kelleher, CBMR’s interactive marketing manager. “With some help from Mother Nature, hopefully we’ll be covering the slopes with plenty of white stuff soon.”
CBMR will also open a near-slope waffle cabin this November, in the old guest services shack below Butte 66.
“They really are the best waffles, and they’ll be right there by the lifts so you can get a quick snack,” said Kelleher.
