CBMR to celebrate Super Bowl

Discounted lift tickets, cheap wings

Crested Butte Mountain Resort is celebrating the Super Bowl this weekend with discounted lift tickets, free beer, a wing eating contest and plenty of rock and roll.
On Saturday, February 1, lift tickets will be on sale for $48 for anyone visibly wearing orange on their outer layers.

“Base layers, underwear and hats don’t count,” said CBMR marketing director Erica Mueller. “We want to see your support for the Broncos on your coats and pants.”
Saturday afternoon, base area bar Butte 66 will host a tailgating party. The keg will be tapped at 3 p.m. and the beer will flow free until it’s gone. The party will also feature several food and drink specials, including $.50 wings. The annual wing eating contest will take place during half time, and the winner will receive a $50 tab at the bar and two tickets for CBMR’s Ski Town Breakdown spring concert (formerly FestEVOL).
Sunday is game day, and general festivities will occur with plenty of partying at the base area. Then Monday, CBMR will celebrate the outcome of the game with its “Big Game Monday” lift ticket special.
“The price of the ticket will depend on the final score of Sunday’s game,” said Mueller. “Every point scored is $1. So if the Broncos score 21 and the Seahawks score 14, the cost of a day ticket would be $35.”
According to Mueller the lowest scoring Super Bowl was in 1973 when the points earned totaled 21. Talk about a discount.
