Former ORE employee under investigation

The Gunnison Police Department has opened an investigation into the possible misappropriation of funds from a local non-profit organization. The department is in the initial stages of looking into a former executive director of the Office for Resource Efficiency (ORE) who may have embezzled thousands of dollars.

According to the department, members of the ORE board brought the situation to the police department’s attention at the beginning of July. The case is in its early stages and no charges have been filed against anyone. The department is looking into the matter to see if fits the parameters of a criminal case.
