A traffic stop in Riverbend on Wednesday, June 10, ultimately led to the arrest of two people in the vehicle and the execution of a search warrant at their Riverbend residence the following day. A third arrest was made that Thursday, and an investigation is ongoing.

According to information from Mt. Crested Butte Police Department spokesperson Marjorie Trautman, Mt. Crested Butte police made a traffic stop in the Riverbend subdivision on June 10 that led to the arrest of a man and woman in the vehicle. The individuals were in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including hypodermic needles and a smoking pipe, which was in violation of an existing court order.

The following day, officers conducted a search warrant at a Riverbend residence, where the arrested parties live with two other individuals.

“We were informed that there were weapons in the house and someone who is charged with a felony is not permitted to be in possession of weapons,” Trautman explained.

Officers seized weapons, drugs, and drug paraphernalia from the residence. No information was provided on the types of weapons or drugs present. Another female resident was home during the search and was also arrested for an outstanding warrant from another county.

Once the case report is complete, the Mt. Crested Butte police will hand the report over to the district attorney’s office. “The DA’s office will decide ultimately how they will be charged,” Trautman explained.

Names of the arrested individuals are not yet being released.
