Council set to decide on town manager

Looking for September start

By Mark Reaman

The Crested Butte Town Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, August 29 to discuss the permanent town manager position and perhaps even announce its preferred candidate.

The three finalists were all in town last week to meet with the council, the staff and the public. Dara MacDonald, the former city administrator of Salida; Bentley Henderson, the current county administrator of Archuleta County; and Rob Joseph, the assistant city manager of Montrose, made the final three out of the original 55 applicants.

The council will call the meeting to order and immediately go into a closed-door executive session to candidly talk about the applicants and come to a consensus of who should be offered the job. Once a consensus is reached, the council will reconvene in a public session and announce the offer through a formal motion.

The council hopes to have the new town manager on board in September.
