All sports action at home

It’s that time of year, high school sports fans. The leaves are changing, snow is hitting the peaks, temperatures are cooling and fall is in the air. It’s Homecoming.

The Crested Butte Titans Homecoming is this weekend, with volleyball, soccer and cross country all competing in the valley.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday, September 14 as the Titans volleyball team hosts the Center Vikings with matches starting at 4 p.m. in mighty Mt. Olympus.

On Friday, September 15 the Titans’ soccer team will host ski town rival Telluride at Rainbow Field with the JV starting at 3 p.m. and the varsity game kicking off at 4:45 p.m. Last year the Titans pulled off a thrilling overtime win but Telluride is always in the hunt to spoil the festivities and this should be an exciting match.

The Booster Club will be hosting a BBQ at the game as well, with the grills firing up at 4 p.m.

Homecoming weekend comes to a close on Saturday, September 16 with all three Titans sports in action. Volleyball hosts both Custer County and Sargent with the matches starting at 10 a.m. The cross country team will toe the line behind the Gunnison Middle School starting at 11:15 a.m. and the soccer team will host the Bayfield Wolverines at Rainbow field at High Noon.

Take a break from your life and come out to cheer on your local high school athletes this weekend.
