The third annual Kid’s Growler will be on Saturday, May 25 at the Hartman Rocks base area during the Half-Growler. Free registration will be at the picnic table pavilion just behind the restrooms starting at 8:30 a.m. where you just need to sign a quick waiver and grab a race plate.
New this year, CB Devo will also be offering kids’ clinics for beginner and intermediate riders from 12:30 to 3 p.m. with CB Devo-trained coaches. Don’t forget to bring snacks and a water bottle or hydration pack. Helmets and closed-toed sneakers required; sunglasses and bike gloves are both highly recommended. Donations for this race will support Gunnison Trails and all of the amazing love and passion they pour into the trails at Hartman Rocks and Signal Peak.
The first race of the morning will go off at 9:30 a.m. with the Strider riders as well as those just transitioning to pedals. This is one lap on the short course and we ask that parents please accompany their child with no brakes or those who are still a little shaky. Suggested age range is 3 to 5 years old.
The second race will start at 9:45 a.m. and will be approximately 15 minutes long. The suggested age range for this race is 5 to 7 years old.
Race number three will go off at 10:10 a.m., again on the short course but the duration of this race will be approximately 20 minutes for faster kids with more proficient bike handling skill and fitness. The suggested age range for this race is 7 to 9 years old.
The final race of the morning will be on a longer course for our oldest and fastest kids. Riders lining up for this race must have solid descending skills and endurance for longer laps with more climbing. This race will be approximately 30 minutes long and the suggested age range is 9 and up.
Space will be limited for the clinics so please sign up in advance with Adam at [email protected] if you would like to claim a spot as day of registration will depend on availability. Clinics are free and donations to support CB Devo, a non-profit youth mountain bike development team, are welcome.
If you have any questions about this event and/or would like to volunteer, please contact Amy at [email protected].
