Other government agencies likely to follow

The developers of Gunnison Rising, the annexed development located on the east side of Gunnison along Highway 50, confirmed this week a contract has been signed to build a new public lands office facility on the property.

Gunnison Rising’s Dick Bratton said the Denver-based Simco Corporation signed the contract on Tuesday, December 29 and would start construction on the facility this spring.

“The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has agreed to relocate on the “government parcel” of Gunnison Rising,” he said. “Simco has done other projects like this before. We have been talking to other governmental agencies and we anticipate the possibility of the U.S. Forest Service and perhaps the Colorado Parks and Wildlife to join the BLM in the new facility on the campus.”

Bratton said more detailed information would be released as it became available. “This is a great development for the entire community,” he said. “It is a good step and we are very upbeat about the development.”
