A three-vehicle accident on Thursday, January 14 resulted in two Crested Butte residents being hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident took place on Highway 135 at about mile marker 4 just north of Gunnison at about 3:10 p.m. Trooper Josh Lewis said that, according to the report, 20-year-old Toby Goldberg was heading south behind a snowplow that was clearing the road when he crossed the highway centerline and struck a 2013 Ford pickup driven by 52-year-old Chris Lambro. The impact pushed the pickup backwards and it struck a southbound Acura SUV driven by 26-year-old Alicia Olmstead of Gunnison before stopping and blocking the northbound lane.

Lewis said Goldberg and the passenger in the pickup, Alex Lambro, were both taken to the Gunnison Valley Hospital with what was described as serious injuries. Chris Lambro and Olmstead were not injured and neither was transported from the accident scene.
Lewis said no drugs, alcohol or speed is suspected as a cause of the accident. He also said everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt. As of early this week, no charges had been filed against anyone involved in the accident.
