A Gunnison resident died last weekend in an accident on Kebler Pass Road north of Crested Butte. Forty-one-year-old Daniel Hoffman was the lone person in a 2006 Toyota Tundra that went off the road and rolled down a steep embankment on Saturday, October 16.
According to Colorado State Patrol sergeant Troy Kessler, the call came in about 1:04 Saturday afternoon. The state patrol report did not include a lot of details, but Kessler said the truck landed about 100 feet from County Road 12 at mile marker 6.8. which is near Erikson Springs.

Kessler said Hoffman was considered a “missing person” since a relative had reported him gone on October 8, eight days before the accident. Kessler’s information did not include which direction or what speed Hoffman was travelling when the accident occurred. He was also not sure if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
