Due to undisclosed reasons, the Gunnison Community School and Lake School were under “Secure the Perimeter” status on Wednesday morning, January 19. No one was allowed in or out of the buildings during that time.

“Secure the Perimeter” is a response to a potential threat of danger outside the building. According to Gunnison Watershed School District superintendent Dr. Leslie Nichols, the status lasted less than 30 minutes.

“That threat no longer exists,” she shared on Wednesday morning. “I can say it was always a potential threat and not a confirmed threat. Operations are all normal (well, COVID normal!).”
