Hoping for a choice in early May
[ By Mark Reaman ]
Crested Butte is hoping to choose a developer for the Sixth and Butte affordable housing project by early May. Nine developers submitted applications after the town issued its Request for Proposals. Some of the proposals were to construct only the rental units, others wanted to only deal with the for-sale units and four made proposals to do both.
High Mountain Concepts and Contour Development are interested in the for-sale units. Belmont Development Company, Wells and Associates and Northwest Real Estate Capital Corp. submitted proposals focused on the rental aspect of the project. Archway Communities, Elmington Capital, Gatesco, Inc and TWDF Development Company all hope to be involved with construction of rentals and for-sale units.
Under a preliminary timeline, the town staff is sending follow-up questions to the developers to round out their applications. By the middle of March, the hope is to have a short list of potential developers. Selected developers who are asked will then present their ideas to the public in April before the school break. Ideally, the town council will choose a developer at the first council meeting in May.
