CB’s outdoor seating delayed due to supply chain hurdle

Start pushed back a week to June 21

The start of the outdoor summer restaurant seating on Elk Avenue will be pushed back about a week. Originally expected to begin this week on June 15, supply chain problems with the uniform barricades have pushed the start date back to probably June 21.

Crested Butte community development director Troy Russ explained that the silver fence barricades ordered by town to complement the flower boxes for the Elk Avenue parklets have not yet arrived despite being expected to get here at the end of May. 

“The barricades were ordered in early May and were scheduled to be delivered to the town on May 27,” said Russ. “The manufacturer, Crowd Control Warehouse, did notify the Town of possible delays and that is what happened. I inquired to the order’s status on June 3. A shipment tracking number was not confirmed to the Town until today, June 14, the day the Town had anticipated installing the parklets.”

Given the supply chain issue, the new Plan A is to have town employees install the new parklets on Tuesday, June 21. The hope is that the ones ordered by the town will arrive before then so those can be installed. 

“Plan B is to install them on the 21^st with rented barricades, which we have reserved,” Russ said. “If we rent the barricades, the Town will replace them once the town-owned barricades are delivered.”

So as much as you might want to sit in the sun and watch the cars go by as you quaff a beer or eat a slice, you’ll have to wait until next week to do that officially.
