CBMR’s opening day will be November 23

Limiting lift tickets this season

Winter may still feel a ways off, but this week Vail Resorts announced that Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) will open on November 23 for the 2022-23 winter season. Also new this year will include a limitation on individual lift tickets; however, limits will not apply to Epic Passes.

“Opening the day before Thanksgiving is a tradition of ours here at CBMR, and we are excited to once again offer the opportunity for skiing and riding over the Thanksgiving holiday,” said CBMR communications manager Julie Block.

As part of its operating plans this winter, Vail also plans to limit ticket sales to prioritize the mountain experience for its guests. “This approach is one way to help us manage the experience during popular times throughout the entirety of the season,” said Block.

Block clarified that the lift ticket limitations do not apply to Epic Passes, including Local and Epic Day Passes. And unlike the 2020-21 COVID-19 season, folks won’t have to worry about any kind of reservation system, just a cap on how many individual lift tickets will be sold each day. Block also clarified that even if lift tickets are sold out, pass holders can redeem Buddy Tickets and Ski with a Friend tickets online or at the ticket window.

“We do not anticipate lift tickets will sell out every day, at every resort this season; however, we’ll always have days that are busier than others,” said Block. So if a guest is able to purchase a lift ticket online, then that means CBMR has not reached the cap for that day. “If guests with lift tickets decide to cancel, we will adjust inventory – so people without lift access are encouraged to check back online often to view availability,” said Block. “Lift tickets will be available for purchase online in the coming weeks.”

Additionally, dining facilities will no longer require proof of COVID-19 vaccinations or dining reservations.

Epic Pass prices increase after Labor Day, Sepember 5, and are available at www.epicpass.com.
