It appears the town of Mt. Crested Butte is working on a settlement agreement with Homestead developer Lance Windel of Homestead Housing, LLC. The pending 22-unit affordable housing project has been on pause for over a year since Windel went into default of his contracts with the individual Homestead unit homeowners, and the site has been declared a nuisance and the buildings deemed unsafe.
Last week the town held a mediation meeting with Windel, and on Monday, November 21, the Mt. Crested Butte town council held an executive session with special legal counsel Joe Rivera regarding developing negotiations strategy for negotiations with Homestead Housing, LLC.
According to town attorney Kathy Fogo, following the executive session the town council approved the settlement structure and directed legal counsel to draft a settlement agreement for approval by the council in December.
No further discussion occurred.
