Brief: Mt. Crested Butte

STR regulation updates

[ BY KENDRA WALKE. ]

During their September 19 meeting, the Mt. Crested Butte town council approved the first reading of an ordinance amending sections of the town code concerning short-term rental regulations.

The ordinance makes the following changes:

1. Upon the transfer of a property, the previous property owner’s license automatically expires after the passage of sixty (60) days.

2. Expand liability for those renting/advertising without a license to any person, not just the owner of the property.

3. Create an appeals process for licensure decisions which is separate from the Code’s general administrative appeal process.

4. Change the 10-day automatic revocation language for failure to update the local rep to discretionary language.

5. Amend the notice section to permit notice on someone other than the property owner (primarily for those people renting without a license that are not owners).
