Ken Lodovico resigns from council

Mt. CB council has 30 days to appoint a replacement

Mt. Crested Butte council member and mayor pro tem Ken Lodovico announced at the end of the town council meeting on October 2 that he will be stepping down.

“The time has come that some personal responsibilities need to be placed in front of my civic duties,” he wrote in an open letter addressed to Mayor Todd Barnes, the Mt. Crested Butte town council, and Mt. Crested Butte town staff. “You have all been very insightful and I have learned immensely from interacting with all of you. There are many community members that have no idea what it takes to operate a municipality. I now understand that process better. It is because of committed individuals like you,” he wrote.

Lodovico joined the Council in July of 2015.  He served on the Mountain Express and the Gunnison Valley Regional Transportation Association (RTA) board as a council representative, and will step down from both boards. The council will need to appoint another councilor to the Mountain Express, RTA, and appoint a new Mayor Pro Tem.

The town will publish an official notification of the council seat vacancy, accept letters and resumes from interested parties until 5 pm on October 16, or people may appear in person at the October 16 council meeting. The council hopes to appoint a replacement within 30 days, according to Tiffany O’Connell, the town clerk of Mt. Crested Butte.
