Citizen’s Race returns Saturday
Don’t let the warm weather fool you: there’s still good Nordic skiing out there! Join us this Saturday for the 15 kilometer Skiathlon, which features both Classic and Skate techniques. The race will be held on the Bench, with one Classic lap and two Skate laps. Registration is at the Nordic Center from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and the race starts at 10! Keep in mind the 20 km Classic race that’s coming up on January 14.
January 14 Yurt Dinner
We kicked off the Magic Meadows Yurt Dining season with awesome dinners and brunch over the holidays. If you missed those events, or are already ready for more, join us on Saturday, January 14 for a mid-winter dinner, with four terrific courses prepared by personal chef Tim Egelhoff. Ski or snowshoe out to the yurt at your own pace or with a guide. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.. Join us for drop-in snowshoe tours
With these bluebird days that just keep coming the backcountry is where it’s at and snowshoes are a great way to get there. If you’re new to the valley or just want a change of pace, join us on Tuesdays and Fridays for guided snowshoe tours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tours include equipment, transportation, and a friendly, knowledgeable guide. Tours go to a variety of scenic destinations including the Slate River Valley, Washington Gulch, and Gothic. The price is $65 for adults, and $35 for kids 12 and under. Sign up by calling the CBNC or just drop in. Tours are also available by appointment.
The Crested Butte Nordic Center is a full-service cross-country ski center providing professional lessons and complete rental packages for skate and classical skiing, as well as ice skating, snowshoeing, and sledding. The Nordic Center maintains approximately 55 kilometers of groomed trails via four trailheads, around the scenic outskirts of Crested Butte.
