The West Elk Warriors lacrosse team finished their extended season session with a hard-fought tournament in Boulder, Colorado on Saturday, June 8.

The team, led by head coach Alex Solomon and assistant coaches Riley Davis and Carter Brock, played hard against three tough Front Range teams. While the outcome of 0-3 was disappointing, the boys gained great experience and had a lot of fun.

The first match-up was against 10th Mountain Lacrosse, a team from Summit County. The 10th Mountain proved to be a bit too much for the Warriors and they fell with a 5-1 loss, with the only goal scored by Sullivan Reese.

The second game of the day was the most difficult against a very experienced team comprised of all rising ninth graders, and the Warriors lost 14-0.

The third game, against True 2029, was the most exciting of the day. The Warriors pulled ahead 5-4 with two minutes remaining. Sadly, they ended up with a loss of 6-5. The goals were scored by Reese (2), Asher Greer (2) and Luke Rosenberg (1). The defense for the weekend was led by goalie Mason Colucci and defenders Vann Andrews, Thacher Starrett, Jack Solomon and Tor Murphy. The Warriors offense was led by middies and attacks Warren Ebner, Noah Harwell, Reese, Tyler Jeffery and Charlie Reamer.

West Elk Lacrosse will be holding weekly summer lacrosse playing opportunities in Crested Butte with coaches ready to work with new and experienced players. If you have any interest in getting involved with West Elk Lacrosse, email westelklacrosse@gmail.com.
