U.S. Energy talks slow…
Without saying much, town attorney John Belkin reported to the Crested Butte Town Council on Monday, June 2, “Discussions with U.S. Energy are at a standstill.” This came after a 90-minute executive session with the council over the matter that included representatives of the High Country Conservation Advocates and Red Lady Coalition for part of the time.
More Kapushion lots to come on the market
Town building and zoning director Bob Gillie said the Kapushion family has approached the town about bringing more town lots onto the market. He and town attorney Belkin are reviewing the plan and will be working with the Kapushion family to determine how the town will handle the move.
Sales tax rising
Sales tax revenues are up…again. April was up 5.8 percent. For the year, the town is 8.5 percent over 2013. In a sign of how busy it will be some weekend this summer, Councilman Jim Schmidt said the valley is maxed out on the wedding scene the same week as Crested Butte Bike Week. He reported there are six or seven weddings scheduled for the same period. “It will be a busy summer,” confirmed chamber of commerce director Dan Marshal.
